Quantum Information Center in Gdańsk (KCIK) was established at University of Gdańsk on 29th of June 2007 as a joint research unit gathering nine Polish institutions: Centre for Theoretical Physics PAN, Institute of Physics PAN, Technical University of Gdańsk, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, University of Gdańsk, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, University of Łódź, University of Wrocław. The Center is lead by Scientific Council and the Director Ryszard Horodecki.

The mission of the Centre is to create an integrated basis for interdisciplinary research in fields of quantum information processing and foundations of physics. The Center is open to modern trends and sustains wide international cooperation. International symposia are held in the building of the Center in May every year, and gather world leaders in quantum information. KCIK is supported by University of Gdańsk, research grants of Foundation for Polish Science, National Center of Science, Ministry of Science and Higher Education and framework programmes of European Union, including ERC AdG.
